FACEPLATETo install a faceplate, simplyremovethe plasticoverly (no tools required) and insert the paperfaceplate over the buttons.Then replace theplasticoverlay.OperationVOLUMECONTROLRinger volume control: The ringer volumeiscontrolled via the“Volume+/–”key.There are five volumelevels.When you havereachedthe maximum or minimum soundlevelthere will be a warningbeep.HANDSET VOLUMECONTROLSThe handsetvolume control increases the volumeof thehandset.Whenthe handset is off-hook or the Speaker keyengaged on speakerphones, press theVolumeControl keys to increase or decrease thevolume.The handsetvolume control isa5-step operation.All models are hearing aid compatible.ON-HOOKAND OFF-HOOK/PICK-UPAND HANG-UPBase unit:Toget a dial tone with off-hookstatus,press a linekeyor theSpeaker keyto pick upwithspeaker.To hang up or go on-hook, press alineor the Speaker key again to hang-up.Handset: Press ON/OFF key in the handsetfaceplate to pickup or hang-up.HOLDBaseunitand handset:Controls the“localhold”function.Eachpress of the [Hold] key toggles thelocalholdmode OnorOff.An LEDindicatorlocatedabovethe [Hold] key displays the on-hold status.MUTEThe Mute key toggles the microphone Mutefunction On andOff.The LED indicator abovethe [Mute] key displays the On/Off status of theMute function.WhenMute is on, the handset andhands-free microphone audio are turned off.Youwill be able to hear the party at the other end ofyour call, but they will not be able to hearyou.REDIALRedials the last-dialed telephone number, upto24 digits.After 30 minutes, theredialed numberwill automatically beremoved(for security andprivacy).MESSAGE1.Thehidden 3-position switchmarkedTYPE LR1 LR2configures the message-waiting lamp.2.For most applications theTYPEpositionwill work.This is the factorydefaultsetting.Alwaystry theTYPEpositionfirst:If themessagelamp blinks when amessageis in the mailbox, thisconfirmsthatTYPEis the correct setting.3.For somePBXsystems that providereversepolaritymessagesignaling, it maybe necessary to move the switch toeitherLR1orLR2.Thecorrect position of theswitch will cause themessagelamp to beon continuously when amessageis in themailbox.PAGECALL THEHANDSETPress thebaseunit’sPagekey to call the handsetand the handset’s Message and On/Off indicatorlights flash.Press the Page key again (or anykey in the handset or place the handset into thecradle) to end thepage.REGISTERING AHANDSETAuto-Sync HandsetRegistrationPlace the handset into the base unit cradle andmake sure the chargingleadsmakecontact.The
Line will light up, and the base and the handsetwill enter Registrationmode.Whenthebaseandthe handset have successfully paired, the phonewillbeepa Registration confirmationtone.SWITCH BETWEEN BASE ANDHANDSETIf thehandsetisregisteredwith thebaseunit, thenthe handset and base can switch the call freely.Toswitch from the handset to thebase,press theSpeaker key in the base unit.Press theON/OFFkey in the handset to switch frombasetohandset.SWITCH BETWEENHANDSETSEvery base unit canregisterup to 4 additionalhandsets.Ifoneof thehandsetsis picking up, anyone of the other handsets can pick up the call bypressing theON/OFFkey.TheON/OFFindicatorof the other handsets will flash to display thephone is inuse.SPEED DIALING FROM THE HANDSETThe handset can access 6 different speeddialnumbers programmed in thebase.The handset buttons are designated asHS6–HS11.Keepin mind that the handsetsimplymimics thebaseas far as programminggoes.SoHSM6will automatically be the same as M6(i.e.,you only need to program thebase).If the base unit cannot store any number, theseoperations can only pick up with thehandset.CONFERENCETheCONFkeyallows for three-wayconversations.Depending on the situation, you may initiate aconference call using one of these methods:CASE A—USER INITIATES2CALLS1.Place your call to the first party, thenputthem on hold by pressing theHOLDkey.2.Using the second line (Line2),placeyourcall to the second party, then put them onhold by pressing theHOLDkey.3.ActivateConferenceby pressing theCONFkey to join the calls together.CASE B—USER RECEIVES A CALLANDPLACES A SECONDCALL1.Receivea call from the first party, thenputthem on hold by pressing theHOLDkey.2.Using the second line (Line2),place acallto the second party, then put them onholdby pressing theHOLDkey.3.ActivateConferenceby pressing theCONFkey to join the calls together.CASE C—USER RECEIVES A CALL ANDTHENRECEIVES A SECONDCALL1.Receivea call from the first party, thenput them on hold by pressing the HOLDkey.2.Using the second line (Line2),place acallto the second party, then put them onholdby pressing theHOLDkey.3.ActivateConferenceby pressing theCONFkey to join the calls together.TO TERMINATE A CONFERENCECALLPressing a Line key will maintain the connectionwith that line while dropping the other line.Toterminate the call entirely, place the handsetback in the cradle to go on-hook and disconnectboth parties.USB CHARGINGPORTSThe USB charging ports can chargeportabledevices (smartphone, tabletetc.)with upto5v2.1A.So if your guest has a device capable offast charging, this unit will do it.Simply plug aUSB (Type A)cable into one of the providedports
and plug the other end (with a USB-mini ormicroconnector) to yourdevice,and you’re set togo.ProgrammingPROGRAM SPEED DIALSUSINGSUBMERGED [STORE] AND[FLASH][Store]and[Flash] programmingkeysarelocatedunder the faceplate and overlay; begin byliftingup faceplate and overlay, by either a papercliporsharp pointer.STORING A NUMBER INTO MEMORYKEYS—[STORE]Eachspeed-diallocation can store up to 24digitsin tonemode.Note: Flash programmed into memory counts asonedigitwhenstoring a number.1.Press theSTOREkey.2.Enter the number to be stored using thenumeric dialpad.3.Press theSTOREkey.4.Press the desired memorylocationwherethe number is to be stored.5.If additional numbers are to bestored,repeat steps 3 through5.6.Hang up thehandset.PROGRAMMING FLASHTIMINGFlash timing options are 100 ms through 1000ms, programmable in 100 ms increments.Thedefault Flash timing is600ms.1.Press theSTOREkeyonce.2.ProgramFLASHby pressing 1 for100ms,2 for200ms,etc.3.PressSTORE.4.PressFLASH.PROGRAMMING PAUSETIMINGPause timing options are 1 second through 5seconds,programmable in 1 second increments.Thedefault pause timing is3.5seconds.1.Press theSTOREkeyonce.2.ProgramPauseby pressing 1 for 1 second,2 for 2seconds,etc.3.PressSTORE.4.PressPAUSE/REDIAL.FLASH HOOKFUNCTION—[FLASH]TheFlash function is used toaccess PBXfeaturesor Telco line features such as CallWaiting.TheFlash function is a600ms timed line break.If theFlash function willbe usedoften, store thefeatureinto memorylocatedforeasy accessasfollows:1.Press theSTOREkey.2.Press theFLASHkey.3.Press theSTOREkey.4.Press the memorylocation wherein theFLASHis to be stored.MESSAGE WAITING AND RETRIEVALPressing the touch button automaticallyturnson the speakerphone, and then dials into auser-programmed voicemail system toretrievemessages.1.Press theSTOREkey.2.Enter the number to be stored using thenumeric dialpad.3.Press theSTOREkey.4.Press theredMessageWaiting bar to store.
InCase of PowerOutageThephonebasewillfunctionwithoutcommercialpower (butthehandsetwillnotoperate).Ringer: Whenreceivinga new call, the phonebasewill ring, but not thehandset.Pick up:Press the Line orSpeakerkey to pickup.Dial: Under off-hook status theloudspeakerandmicrophone willreceivesound and calls can beplaced using the dialpad.Hang-up:After talking, press theSpeakeror Linekey to hangup.Note:Without commercialpower,the baseunit onlysupports dialing and calling;theindicatorlights willfail to light; andRedial, Hold, Flash, GuestServiceKeys, andthehandsetwill not operate.Important SafetyInstructionsWhen using your telephone equipment, basicsafety precautions should always be followedtoreducethe risk of fire, electric shock, andinjuryto persons, including thefollowing:1.Readand understand all instructions.2.Follow all warnings and instructionsmarked on the product.3.Unplug the product from the walloutletbeforecleaning.Do not use liquidcleaneror aerosol cleaners.Use a damp clothforcleaning.4.Do not use this product near water—forexample, near a bathtub, washbowl,kitchen sink or laundry tub, in a wetbasement, or near a swimming pool.5.Do not place this product on an unstablecart, stand, or table.Theproduct mayfall,causing serious damage to the product.6.Slots and openings in the cabinet and theback or bottom are providedforventilation, to protect it fromoverheating.Theseopenings must not be blockedorcovered.Theopenings should never beblocked by placing the product on the bed,sofa, rug, or any other similar surface.This product should never be place nearor over aradiatoror heatregister.Thisproduct should not be placed in abuilt-ininstallation unless proper ventilationisprovided.7.Never push objects of any kind intothisproduct through cabinet slots as they maytouch dangerous voltage points orshortout parts that couldresultin a risk offireor electric shock.Never spill liquid of anykind on the product.8.Toreducethe risk of electric shock donot disassemble this product.Takeit to aqualified service facility if service orrepairwork isrequired.Openingorremovingcovers mayexposeyou to dangerousvoltages or other risks.Incorrectreassemblycan cause electric shock whenthe appliance is subsequentlyused.9.Unplug this product from the walloutletandreferservicing to qualified servicepersonnel under the followingconditions:–Whenthe power supply cord or plugisdamagedorfrayed.– If liquid has been spilled into theproduct.– If the product has beenexposedtorainor water.– If the productdoesnot operatenormallyby following the operating instructions.Adjust only those controls thatarecoveredby the operating instructions, asimproper adjustment of othercontrolsmayresultin damage and mayrequireextensivework by a qualifiedtechniciantorestorethe product tonormaloperation.– If the product has been dropped or thecabinet has beendamaged.– If the product exhibits a distinct changein performance.10.Avoidusing a telephone (other than acordlesstype)during an electrical storm.There may be aremoterisk ofelectricshock from lightning.11.Do not use the telephone toreporta gasleakin the vicinity of theleak.PLEASE SAVE THESEINSTRUCTIONS.
